PS3 Video 9

PS3 Video 9 is a nice little application that lets you convert video files of various formats into formats that are fully compatible with PlayStation 3 (PS3) game consoles. It can convert a large variety of video file formats, such as AVI, VOB, MKV, WMV, FLV, TiVo, and so on, to files that can be played on PlayStation 3 devices. Besides PlayStation 3, this tool can also convert to files suitable for being played on PlayStation Portable, PlayStation Portable Go, and Sony Ericsson W580i devices. A large number of preset output profiles are also supported, including XVid and MPEG-4 AVC profiles of different configurations.

As you can see, so far PS3 Video 9 is a nice tool that offers plenty of possibilities and cool features. Unfortunately, its interface is rather confusing and a bit annoying. Ads spread in every corners of the windows make it a complete mess, and finding basic options gets to be a difficult task. The conversion speed was also quite disappointing, as it took a couple of minutes to convert a simple 5MB video.

Anyway, PS3 Video 9 is free, so if you need a simple tool to help you convert to PS3 formats and cost you nothing, it’s worth a try.
